Choose manual or automatic lessons in a dual-controlled tuition car. Each instructor profile explains the vehicle they use, so you can find an option that suits you.

Dual controls allow your instructor to help when needed as you build your driving skills. Learner drivers can have motorway lessons in England, Scotland and Wales with an approved driving instructor in a car fitted with dual controls.

We can also support your theory-test preparation.

Will you pick me up for my driving lesson?

If you are just outside these areas, please call us, as we may be able to accommodate you depending on location.

How do I get my provisional driving licence?

You can apply for your first provisional driving licence through GOV.UK. The online application costs £34.

To apply, you must be at least 15 years and 9 months old, be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away, and have permission to live in Great Britain for at least 185 days.

Most people can start learning to drive a car at 17. Applying for a provisional licence earlier does not by itself allow you to start car lessons earlier.

Guidance checked on 28 October 2026. Check GOV.UK for the latest requirements, fees and application information.

Can I have a driving lesson before I pass my theory test?

Yes, you do not need to have passed your theory test in order to start driving lessons. All you need is your provisional licence.

Should I have manual or automatic driving lessons?

Passing your driving test in an automatic car gives you an automatic-only licence. Passing in a manual car allows you to drive manual and automatic cars covered by your licence. You can later upgrade an automatic licence by passing a practical test in a manual car, without retaking the theory test.

Manual lessons include clutch control and gear changes. Automatic lessons remove those tasks, which some learners find more comfortable. The right choice depends on your needs, confidence and the car you plan to drive.

Insurance costs vary by car and driver. Compare quotes for any vehicles you are considering. If you are unsure which lesson type suits you, contact us to discuss your options.

How many driving lessons a week should I take?

The continuity of driving lessons is vital. The more frequently you drive, the better. You will progress faster the more lesson time you have. It is recommended that you book a minimum of one 2-hour lesson per week when you start learning to drive.

Can I learn to drive with a female driving instructor through Love 2 Pass?

Yes, we will make every effort to accommodate those who specifically request a female driving instructor. We understand that some people prefer to take lessons from women.

Is an intensive driving course right for me?

An intensive driving course concentrates your lessons into a shorter period. Your instructor can assess your current driving and help you decide whether this approach suits your experience and learning needs.

Course length and test timing depend on your progress, instructor availability and available practical-test appointments. Contact us to confirm course prerequisites and arrange an assessment before booking.
